Slated this summer are:

SHOW ONE
‘Two Minutes to Midnight’ by Michael Ross Albert.
Show dates: June 11 – 22, 2025
To be directed by Carey Nicholson

Synopsis: In need of a getaway, Jack and Tracy’s vacation at their all-inclusive tropical resort has been disappointing. It has rained the entire trip, their social media influence hasn’t yet translated to real revenue, and an inbound nuclear missile might be poised to annihilate them and everyone nearby. With the world– and their relationship– on the brink of collapse, the bickering couple stares down oblivion together, confronting the illusions that kept them united and finding hope for their future amid the chaos of imminent destruction.

Running time is approximately 90 minutes, with no intermission.
*Please note, this show contains mature content and language. Recommended for ages 12+.

I’ve seen this production elsewhere. It’s quite intriguing when it becomes clear what’s going on. ‘Two Minutes to Midnight’ is quite a ride.

SHOW TWO
‘Bluebirds’ by Vern Thiessen
Show dates: July 9 – 27, 2025
To be directed by Iain Moggach

Synopsis: The year is 1918 in Étaples, France. Nurses Christy, Maggie, and Bab have crossed oceans to care for wounded Canadian soldiers in the Great War. Despite the terrible injuries they must handle, they manage to remain hopeful as the dangers of the front draw closer to their hospital.

As each woman becomes accustomed to her duties and patients, she reveals more personal details to one another and through letters to loved ones. Throughout it all, the three women discover friendship, independence, power, and influence in a setting where men once again attempt to destroy the world.

Running time is approximately 90 minutes, with no intermission

I haven’t seen this play yet, but I have seen several of Vern Thiessen’s productions. I’m looking forward to this. I’ve reviewed several of Iain Moggach’s productions. Go here to learn more about him: https://www.ourtheatrevoice.com/items/iain-moggach

SHOW THREE
‘Any Idiot Can Face a Crisis: The Comedy of Anton Chekhov’
Showdates: August 6 – 24, 2025.
Adaptation by Andy Massingham and the Company.
Directed by Andy Massingham

Synopsis: Andy Massingham returns for his fourth season with a newly adapted work created for the company. As a master of physical theatre and clowning, Andy's madcap style is becoming a favourite at Theatre on the Ridge. This year, he adapts the classic short stories and plays of Anton Chekhov for our dynamic performance tent. It’s Chekhov turned upside down and infused with the signature touch of inventive, physical, comedic mayhem that only Andy Massingham can deliver.

Running time approximately 2 hours, including a 15-minute intermission.
Recommended for ages 12+.

I’ve seen several Chekovian plays over the years. Andy Massingham is a master of physical theatre and clowning. I am looking forward to seeing what he and this cast do.
